Redecorating any room in your house presents challenges, but renovating your bedroom should be a fun and exciting project.
Here are some of our top tips to help you get through.
Set a realistic budget.
Always... always... during any renovation project... set a realistic budget.
This is super important as you may go over budget when putting the finishing touches to your dream bedroom.
Whether it's cabinets, bedside tables or even accessories for around your room, it's a pretty good feeling knowing you can afford to complete your project in one go.
2. Keep the important things front of mind.
When we say important things, you have to consider what your bedroom is primarily used for.
Most people will predominantly use their bedroom for sleep, and that's it. So if this is the case for you, asses where to invest the majority of your decisions. What is going to maximise the efficiency of your bedroom? Here are some examples:
Bed: Do you need a new frame, mattress or pillows?
Storage: If you're short of storage, speak to your bedroom designer about which storage options will work best for you.
Blackout blinds/curtains: Maybe you work the night shift or you might enjoy waking up in complete darkness. Look into blackout options for your windows.
Keep the essential things at the top of the list before digressing into less important parts of the project.
3. Choose a theme
Whether your designing your bedroom by yourself or having a professional do it for you. It is important to pick a theme for your bedroom.
You can find a theme you like in many different ways, whether it's a hotel you stayed in or an accessory you fell in love with. These will massively contribute towards the theme you want for your bedroom.
Yes, there are lots of things to consider, such as colour, style, mood and so on, but seek advice, scrape through Pinterest and enjoy this part of the process. Once you have a general idea, the pieces will fall together.
4. Take your time with the planning.
We always advise taking your time when planning the project with any room renovation. No decision has to be made immediately. We want the project to go as smoothly as possible, and i'm sure you do too.
Obviously, when you have a window in your busy schedule to squeeze in a bedroom renovation, there might be time constraints, but you may make certain decisions that you may regret in the future.
